Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology 1 -65 hours

A study of medical terminology, planes and cavities, cells and tissues, the skeletal system, articulations structure, the integumentary system, and the nervous system. Fifteen hours of the course will focus on pathologies of the integumentary, skeletal, and nervous systems.

 

Swedish Massage Theory & Practice - 100 hours

Massage history & theory, effects and application of massage, draping, body mechanics, basic assessment, contra-indications, clinic protocol, and sensitivity & awareness of the energetic field are the components of this course of study.

 

Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology 2 - 60 hours

Musculo-skeletal Anatomy is taught with an in-depth look at the muscles, muscle groups and joints. The origins, insertions, innervations, and biomechanics of individual muscles will be learned. Tactile identification and palpation skills will be stressed during this module. Ten hours of this course will focus on pathologies of the muscular system.

 

Clinical Massage Theory & Practice - 100 hours

An exploration into the treatment of soft tissues to relieve specific complaints of pain and discomfort in the body using basic clinical massage techniques.


Ethics, Law, Business - 30 hours

Professional ethics, state laws, rules & regulations Business practices: taxes, organization, & marketing.

Body Mind - 20 hours

Somatic psychology, dynamics of the therapist/client relationship,  & boundary functions relative to the therapeutic setting. A holistic look at the connections between body, mind and spirit will offer the student a deeper understanding of any emotional releases associated with deep muscle work.

Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology 3 - 65 hours

Seven systems of the body—circulatory, lymphatic, endocrine, respiratory, digestive, urinary, and reproductive - will be the course of study for this module. Twenty hours of the course will focus on pathologies relative to each system.

Allied Modalities - 75 hours

Includes 16 hours of Oriental medicine, 8 hours of Craniosacral, 8 hours of Reflexology, 12 hours of Hydrotherapy, 8 hours of Aromatherapy, 8 hours of Pregnancy Massage, 8 hours of Chair massage, and 7 hours of Adaptive Massage for Special Poplulations.


Clinic - 30 hours

Students will learn assessment tools including client intake form and interview. The course will also including SOAP charting and proper documentation skills. Supervised clinic sessions will demonstrate each student’s proficiency in classical massage and provide practice for techniques learned. Clinic sessions are documented and reviewed. Student will perform 25 clinics and 5 hours performing clinic assistant duties. Students will NOT be compensated for student clinics.


Our Esthetics Curriculum (Hickory Campus)

Facials
Perform facials that suit client needs, selecting appropriate professional products, recognizing different skin types, recommending home regimens, and learning advanced technologies to enhance facials.

Spa Body Treatments
Learn the benefits and application of exfoliations and body wraps. Course focuses on appropriate product selection, careful and safe application and technique.

Nutrition
Study the effects of health and nutrition on the skin and it’s health.

Reflexology
Applying reflexology techniques to encourage balance and health of the skin.

Aromatherapy
Benefits, indications, contraindication of using aromatherapy. Properties and applications of both essential oils and carrier oils will be discussed.

Advanced Skin Care
Understand and utilize the different types of masks, peels and methods of exfoliation. Focus on pharmacology, advanced ingredients and product usage. Care of pre-and post-surgical conditions will also be discussed.

Anatomy and Physiology
Students will learn structure and functions of the body’s systems to better prepare themselves to offer safe and effective esthetic services. Focus of integumentary system and its pathologies.

Business and Professional Ethics
Course includes understanding scope of practice and ethical concerns in the profession, with focus on North Carolina law. Business course includes marketing and important business principles.

Epilation
Learn the morphology of the hair and growth stages, techniques and equipment in hair removal.

Cosmetics
Understand cosmetic ingredients and their effects and functions, learn cosmetic color theory, application techniques that enhance, correct and create a balanced look in a safe and sanitary environment.
